01/03/2019 – January 7th, 2019, is officially National Bobble Head Day! If you are a Bobble Head collector or enthusiast, this is your day!
The day was created to recognize and celebrate Bobble Heads and those that cherish them. For over 100 years, many of us have collected, cherished or made fun of these spring powered figurines.
The origins of Bobble Heads go back to the seventeenth century in Asia. Figurines of religious figures including Buddha were created and called, Temple Nodders. In the U.S. we first saw references to bobbleheads in a short story written by Nikolai Gogol, The Overcoat.
Later in the nineteenth century, bobbleheads were being created in limited quantites for the U.S. by Germany. In the 50’s, bobbleheads became extremely popular!
Nowadays, you can find a bobblehead depicting, athletes, celebrities, cartoon characters, sports teams, and more! We dedicate whole days to these fun little dolls and have even created a whole museum dedicated to our beloved bobbleheads!
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum was announced in November 18th, 2014. The museum didn’t actually open until 2016, but the doors opened in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and it is the home to the world’s largest collection of bobbleheads.
