Bubble Wrap!

We all love bubble wrap! Mostly used for wrapping fragile items for delivery or a move, but that was not why it was created. In 1957, Al Fielding and Swiss inventor Marc Chavannes in Hawthorne, N.J. created bubble wrap as a textured wall paper! It all began with two shower curtains fastened together so air bubbles would be created, the shower curtain bubble wrap wall paper, didn’t produce good results or sales. After perfecting their bubble wrap, they still couldn’t sell the bubble wrap wall paper, so they moved on to market the product as a greenhouse insulation, though this didn’t work out too well either.

Three years after Bubble Wrap was invented, IBM announced their new computer and the company thought sealing their packages with Bubble Wrap would be perfect for protecting the computers when being shipped! Today Bubble Wrap is used for just about everything even stress relief! http://www.virtual-bubblewrap.com/popnow.shtml
